Venosta Valley
Venosta Valley, known locally as Vinschgau, is an ancient route through the Alps shaped by the Reschen Pass, art, marble, sunken villages and a unique dry valley landscape. A region full of traces waiting to be discovered.
Discover Venosta Valley
Venosta Valley, called Vinschgau in German, is not a place that reveals itself all at once. It is bright, dry, historic and surprisingly layered. At first glance, you may see mountains, apple orchards and wide valley views. But look a little closer, and the landscape begins to tell a much older story.
For centuries, Venosta Valley was an important route through the Alps. The Reschen Pass connected South Tyrol with the north, and even the Romans used this corridor. People, goods, ideas and cultural influences moved through this valley long before modern roads made travelling easier. That history is still visible today in old paths, villages, churches, castles, artworks and traces of everyday life.
Some images from Venosta Valley stay with you. The church tower rising from Lake Reschen tells the story of sunken villages, change and memory. The famous Lasa marble connects the valley to art and architecture far beyond South Tyrol. And the dry sunny slopes create habitats for plants and animals that are rare in other parts of the region.
With SouthTyrolQuests, Venosta Valley becomes more than a scenic landscape. Our GPS-guided riddle tours invite you to slow down, look carefully and follow small clues hidden in real places. A wall, a path, a name, a stone or a view can suddenly become part of the story.
